find truth: find life
Crossing the threshold of a church building can be pretty daunting.
We go to the chip shop because we're hungry. We go to the barbers to have our hair done... but coming to church... we might not know what we're looking for, or what we hope to find.
People look into God for many reasons.
It may be the big questions:
Where did we come from?
Is this all there is?
Why are we here?
What happens when we die?
Question: How many hours have you spent trying to understand algebra or Burns' poetry; or trying to memorise football trivia or pop lyrics?
Question: How many hours have you spent looking into Jesus and the life He offers?
Question: Which is more worthwhile?
Isn't it worth spending at least a few hours investigating the Christian faith?
It may be desperation:
arising from addiction, depression, family breakdown - and nobody else has been able to help.
Millions of Christians around the world would testify that Jesus has helped them in these areas and many more. But they also say Jesus has much more to offer.
People came to Jesus for many reasons and with many motives. They found that truth and life were on offer. For some, that's not what they were after. For others, Jesus
became the most important thing in life.
Cumnock Baptist Church are people for whom Jesus is the most important thing in life. We have come to believe Jesus' words:
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)
The way to absolute, safe-to-build-your-life-on truth is Jesus.
The way to everlasting, live-happy-forever-with-God life is Jesus.
There is only one way to God: Jesus
